When Shipping to Norway, clearance through Customs depends on whether you’re shipping:
- Documents with no commercial value
- Dutiable goods
For shipments where clearance is required, Norwegian Customs Authority requires 24% VAT for all shipments with a value above US $20. Depending of the commodity, tax will also be added prior to release. Carriers will charge recipient VAT and taxes either directly or charge their account at Customs. Only companies can apply for this account at Customs.
Freight with a value above US $1000 to a private recipient or a company without account at Customs will automatically be stopped for collection of VAT prior to delivery.
A consignee must have a deferred account at the Norwegian Customs authorities. If not, there will be an administration fee of NOK 125 (US $15) assigned.
